The great awakening for which we may spend a lifetime searching is actually quite simple: Everything is just the way it is, an innately perfect, sacred, and indivisible whole, whose essence is empty, conscious, and filled with love. The recognition that this is what I am, not the dream character I take myself to be, frees us from a lifetime of suffering and identification and awakens us to our inherent happiness and peace of mind. Yet the journey to this realization and its embodiment may be infinitely challenging as the result of our psychological complexity and the difficulties we face as individuals. This is one of the core messages of my new book, Infinite Awakening.

Join me for a brief exploration of how the pathless path unfolds and the infinite awakenings we encounter along the way. I’ll be offering guided meditations and pointers from the book, discussion of how the book came to be, ample time for dialogue and Q&A, and insights from key chapters on: the stages of awakening; the pros and cons of teachers; preparing the path; welcoming what is; trauma and awakening; and awakened relationships.

Participants will receive an excerpt from the book.

Any donations go to the work of Open Circle Center.

TEACHER BIOGRAPHY

Stephan Bodian

Stephan is a licensed psychotherapist and a teacher in the nondual wisdom tradition of Zen, Dzogchen, and Advaita Vedanta.

Trained as a Zen monk, he studied for many years with Advaita sage Jean Klein and received Dharma transmission (authorization to teach) from Adyashanti. He’s the founder and director of the School for Awakening and the author of a number of books, including Meditation for Dummies, Beyond Mindfulness, and the new book Infinite Awakening, which will be released by Shambhala in May.

“Infinite Awakening is a powerful guide to remembering the vast, tender awareness that is our true nature. With deep clarity and a heart attuned to our shared humanity, Stephan Bodian illuminates a path to freedom and love that feels both timeless and intimately grounded and alive.”

It’s part of our core values to make our events as accessible as possible. If you are not able to pay within the sliding scale, we’d still like to make it possible for you to join by offering a partial scholarship. Please contact us on web@opencirclecenter.org to request a scholarship.
We offer our events by donation or sliding scale with scholarships available to make them as accessible as possible. We still however have many expenses to pay and therefore we ask that you contribute as much as you can comfortably afford for an event. Most of the funds are paid directly to the teacher. The remainder goes towards Open Circle’s expenses so that we can keep our platform in operation. Your generosity also helps cover any scholarships we offer to those unable to pay within the sliding scale.

Most events consist of a guided or silent meditation, a talk by the teacher, and time for questions and sharing. There may be other practices such as somatic exercises, movement practice, dyads, etc. Each teacher chooses the format freely according to what they feel supports their message best, so formats may vary.
