Dorothy Hunt ~ Grace and Gratitude

Grace is always present. You imagine it is somewhere high in the sky,

far away, and has to descend. It is really inside you, in your Heart.

Grace is the Self. . . .You are never out of its operation.

Sri Ramana Maharshi

Whether lifeÕs unfolding gifts are birth or death, tears or laughter, understanding or confusion, challenge or compassion, it is all grace.Ê Grace fills the world, but only a heart awakened to its true nature will taste its depths.Ê Whatever is here expresses lifeÕs wholeness and can be an invitation back to our unborn Source.

Awakening itself is a movement of grace that allows us to freely appreciate the gifts of impermanence and lifeÕs continual flow, no longer bound by the suffering that comes from perpetually wanting Òmore,Ó different, or unending experiences.Ê The working of such grace depends on our ability to receive it.

When we realize the movement of grace in our lives, the natural response of the heart is gratitude.Ê Gratitude is not simply being thankful for things we deem beneficial or pleasurable.Ê It is really a way of living and an expression of the love we discover that is right here in all circumstances. Like Brother David Steindl-Rast, we may discover that ÒIt is not happiness that makes us grateful, but gratefulness that makes us happy.Ó

We offer our events by donation or sliding scale with scholarships available to make them as accessible as possible. We still however have many expenses to pay and therefore we ask that you contribute as much as you can comfortably afford for an event. Most of the funds are paid directly to the teacher. The remainder goes towards Open Circle’s expenses so that we can keep our platform in operation. Your generosity also helps cover any scholarships we offer to those unable to pay within the sliding scale.
