Riyaz Motan ~ Transforming Difficult Experiences and Emotions With Unconditional Presence

In this event nondual psychotherapist and teacher, Riyaz Motan, will describe, demonstrate, and guide participants through a powerful method of engaging with and transforming our difficult experiences and emotions.Ê He will show us how to engage with our suffering through a 4-step process that utilizes the healing power of unconditional presence.Ê This process of tending to our direct experience runs counter to the usual cognitive, emotional, and somatic ways that most of us are conditioned to respond to our pain and suffering.

In this simple practice, we can begin to truly listen to our direct experience without trying to manipulate, change, analyze or resist it. We will learn to tend to our difficulties from an open, affectionate, curious, and creative space of presence. And, in this patient and unconditional embrace our difficult experiences will begin to unfold and reveal themselves just as a closed flower opens and blossoms in the warmth and radiance of the sun. ÊAs we practice this method, we come to see and trust that the direction of our unfoldment reliably arcs towards wholeness, where our human experience is reclaimed and restored and we come into a more full and authentic expression of ourselves.

This method also opens us to:

~ the subtle intuitive and creative capacities within us

~ a deeper trust of our direct experience

~ the innate wisdom of the body.

~ healing and understanding the intergenerational/ancestral dimensions of our suffering.

This event is ideal for spiritually oriented people who are interested in fully embodying their wholeness. It is especially relevant for spiritual practitioners who are wanting a reliable and effective way to not bypass the sticky, painful aspects of human life.

This event can also be very helpful for people in the healing professions as this approach can be powerfully utilized when working with others.

Riyaz has been a practicing psychotherapist in the Bay Area for the past 25 years. From the beginning his passion has been on the integration of Eastern wisdom traditions with Western psychology. His two main teachers, John Prendergast and Adyashanti have deeply influenced his work and his spiritual life. He now increasingly feels called to support people in embodying their whole selves — their humanity and their divinity.
