Susanne Marie ~ Serving Others, Finding Freedom: A Path Beyond Self-Centeredness

Self-preoccupation veils the natural sense of unity and belonging. This is why, traditionally in India, the Bhakti path of selfless serviceÑSevaÑhas been so deeply valued. When we make a habit of prioritizing our own needs above all else, it reinforces the illusion of a separate self. The spiritual journey is, in essence, a process of the self lessening so that the Divine may grow within us. Deep down, we all long to be of true service, to be put to good useÑbecause giving from the heart brings real joy. Yet the pull of self-centeredness is strong and deeply ingrained. Thankfully, life offers many natural opportunities for the diminishment of ÔIÕÑthrough parenting, caregiving, volunteering, and other forms of service. However, even in these, the inner doer can persist, resisting the surrender that allows giving to be truly selfless and unattached. In this meeting, we will explore the transformative power of selfless giving, and share helpful pointers to support the gentle loosening of self-identification.

The remainder goes towards Open Circle’s expenses so that we can keep our platform in operation. Your generosity also helps cover any scholarships we offer to those unable to pay within the sliding scale.
